One of the biggies with shooting in super cold winter conditions is battery life; as in, batteries died quickly. So I was pretty pissed when after setting up and waiting for the sun to go behind the hills one of my battery packs died after only a couple shots. I could make it work with two strobes running off one battery but I really wanted that third light running off the second battery. And this image is why: with Classical technique the hands obscure/cast a shadow on the face and a little kick from the right would have mitigated that I think. Still, I was pleased with the images and since it’s dumping today I think I’ll throw precipitation into the mix.
