What happens when you try to ride a rail at a terrain park on Nordic skis you’ve never skied on before? Exactly this. We shot at the Park City terrain park this afternoon for Fischer skis new Jib Skate and the model, uh, had some issues. To be fair, riding rails, boxes, and jumps on Nordic skis is no picnic (unless you’re Andy Newell), and we did get some nice shots, but our model is going to be very, very sore tomorrow.
The scene in the Park City terrain park was crazy. Skiers and snowboarders alike were going very, very big off the park’s jumps. Stuff I’d never seen before. People were throwing massive spins and flips left, right, and center, and it wasn’t just a couple guys doing it either. Dozens. The whole aesthetic cracks me up: hip hop meets skateboard meets metal head meets gangstah meets I don’t know what. But even though they look goofy as hell they have serious skills, that’s enough for me.
